Learn the art of Lavender wand making,  Lavender wands or bottles as they were sometimes called, were an essential part of every Victorian era home.  Lavender wands were often used to add fragrance to the lingerie drawer or to add a delicate scent of summer to the linens and now they can  be a part of your home too.  Debbie Cook will be teaching the old fashioned art of turning lavender flowers and stems into a beautiful handwoven piece of Victorian art .

Lavender Basket Weaving

Combine the art of basket weaving with the beauty of lavender and nature returns one of its finest masterpieces.  For many years Debbie Cook has been mixing the different elements of her basket weaving.  She struck on this idea while envisioning the beauty of the lavender and the detail of the round reed basket material.  They shared commonality in the stems and she thought what would it be like to marry these two elements together.  Voila!  The Lavender basket was created.  Learn the simple art of basket making and at the same time make a beautiful addition to your home.  The basket makes a beautiful potpourri container

Entertainment Descriptions

Mountain Mist

The sweet sounds of the mountain dulcimer can sound no sweeter than they do when played by Sue Frump and Virginia Spillman.  You will enjoy the harmonies as they play the traditional mountain music.

Lydia Weaver - Harpist

We are pleased to welcome Lydia Weaver back to Lavender Field Day 2008.  This will be Lydia's Fourth year with us.  We love to hear the sweet soft hymns from her beautiful harp.  Lydia began her music career at age 8 by learning to play the piano using a book and cassette program. She became interested in playing the harp after hearing a harpist play at a local mall. By using her piano knowledge and a self-teaching harp video, she learned to play the harp.  Lydia says "I am grateful to God for gifting me with this talent".   We are grateful to God that she has decided to share her talent with us.

Ellen Pennington and Don Pierson join their musical talents to create the most remarkable duo of guitar and recorder.  Their music is described as "smooth", "mellow", and "uplifting".  Don's talent with the guitar is compared to that of Chet Atkins, and Ellen's recorder (I call it a flute but I'm sure there is a difference) is soft and lilting and soothing to the ear.  We are pleased to have this duo for their repeat performance at Lavender Field Day 2008
