Fall is a good time to make sure that your lavender is tucked in for the winter.  If you prefer to prune in the fall, then you should be wrapping up your pruning by the last week of September.  That will give the plants a good two to three weeks before the first frost hits in Southern Ohio.  Don't forget to place windbreaks on the windward side of your French varieties of lavender like Provence or Grosso,  and if you have any young lavender plants you may want to protect them from the winter breezes as well.  We have discovered that they do so much better if they are protected from the harsh winter winds. If you have already established English varieties  they should do well without wind protection.

We will also be open for the Christmas Season from the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve.  Stop by and visit and don't forget to visit with Jani Brezius at the Christmas at the Cabin only a few more miles down the road.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Did you get a chance to pick up the May/June issue of "Over the Back Fence" Southern Ohio's Own Magazine or Cincinnati Magazine.  Both magazines have a write-up about Springbrook Meadows Lavender.  Brenda Bradds who has written many articles for "Over the Back Fence" wrote an amazing 4 page article about the lavender farm.  You can see the article by going to this link, (Over the Back Fence)
